The Home Inspection industry has changed dramatically over the past few years. In the past, licensed inspectors’ skill sets varied dramatically. There was no ‘Standard of Practice’ or level of skill required to call yourself a Housing Inspector. Recently some rules, mandatory Association membership and licensing requirements were put in place with the goal to ensure the consistency of skill and knowledge of inspectors and their inspections was maintained. Unfortunately, even with the stricter standards, an inconsistency among Housing Inspection services is still a problem.

What we are seeing today are rushed inspections and standard form fill  √ checked off  type of inspection reports that do not go in to any details. These details are important and can provide the client with helpful information regarding the home they are purchasing. Instead, clients are left to try and decipher unfamiliar jargon and needing to orient themselves through the house in the hopes of finding the issue pointed out in the report. This system does not put the client’s needs into consideration at all. It is meant to accomplish the task in the fastest amount of time, with the least amount of work.

At Brighton Home Inspections, our first and foremost commitment is to the house. We are hired by our clients to report on the condition of the home and to ensure it is operating as it was intended. Most inspections take between 3-4 hours with a 3 hour electronic report to follow within 24 hrs of the inspection. Our reports are detailed, with photos, describing issues found in terms you can understand. If you don’t understand, we are more than happy to take the time to communicate our findings to you.

We take our time and as a rule we commit to only one inspection a day to ensure the quality and thoroughness of our inspections are consistent and of the highest value to our clients.
